New York attorney records, checked daily

Lex Mentis™ follows every attorney registered in New York: 434,877 attorneys at 112,981 firms and employers, from the public registry kept by the NYS Office of Court Administration. The state publishes only today's version of that registry and overwrites it in place. Lex Mentis checks it every day and keeps every version, so each profile shows where an attorney works now and since at least when, earlier employers, and every change in registration status.

Published discipline decisions of the four Appellate Division Departments (5,686 indexed) and SEC orders against attorneys are matched to the attorney they concern; 42,962 attorneys currently carry a red or amber flag. In the last 30 days the registry added 652 attorneys and recorded 3,596 firm changes. Registry data as of November 4, 2026.

How to read a profile

  • Red flag: an Appellate Division discipline decision that quotes the attorney's registration number, or whose full name, admission year and admitting Department all agree.
  • Amber flag: a probable match or an SEC order, shown for verification and never treated as confirmed.
  • “Since at least”: the month Lex Mentis first saw the attorney at that employer. They may have been there longer.
  • “Suspended”: New York suspends attorneys for misconduct and also for not filing the biennial registration (Judiciary Law § 468-a). The registry doesn't say which; a matching court decision, when one exists, is shown on the profile.
